How it works
Three steps. No guessing the angle.
The block holds the angle for you, so the hardest part of sharpening is already done.
Set the angle
Rest the blade against the magnetic block. Use 15° for thin Japanese-style knives and 20° for most Western kitchen knives.
Roll along the edge
Roll the disc back and forth along the blade, about 10–20 passes per side. The block keeps the angle steady for you.
Refine and slice
Swap to the finer disc to smooth the edge. Wipe the blade and it's ready to cut.
Why rolling
Why rolling beats pull-through sharpeners
Pull-through sharpeners drag the edge through hard slots. Rolling grinds a fresh edge at a steady angle.
Steady angle every pass
The block sets the angle at 15° or 20°, so you're not guessing by hand like you would on a whetstone.
Grinds instead of scraping
Pull-through slots scrape the edge in one fixed groove, which can leave it rough. Diamond discs grind a fresh, even edge.
Choose your finish
Start coarse to fix a dull edge, then move to finer grits for a smoother, cleaner cut.

FAQ
Questions, answered
How long does shipping take?
Most orders arrive in 7–13 business days. You'll get an email when your order ships, with tracking when available. See our Shipping Policy.
Which knives does it work on?
Most straight-edge steel knives: chef's knives, santokus, utility and paring knives, and many pocket knives. Use the 15° side for thin Japanese-style blades and the 20° side for most Western kitchen knives.
Does it work on serrated knives?
No. Serrated edges, like most bread knives, need a different tool. This sharpener is for straight edges only.
How often should I sharpen?
For most home cooks, a quick touch-up on the fine disc every few weeks and a full sharpen every couple of months is plenty. A good sign it's time: the knife squashes a tomato instead of slicing it.
Which kit should I pick?
Basic is enough to bring back a dull edge. Pro adds a coarse 240 grit for very dull knives and more steps in between. Complete adds finer grits up to 8000 and a leather strop for a polished edge.
How strong is the magnet?
The magnet holds the blade against the block so the angle stays put. Keep one hand lightly on the knife while you roll and it stays steady.
